hello sir good day, i am a teacher in a private school here in cebu, we were informed that the social studies class should use filipino as a medium of instruction, we have been using english in our subject, when weve tried to do it this year, it was really difficult on our part, I would like to know sir, if the private schools will have the option to just use english as our medium of instruction in social studies. thank you sir/madam. God bless

  4. Gud day! How true it is the no read move policy under the K-12 curriculum? Just to clarify issues…thanks a lot!

Gud morning.

Gud day.

  9. Until now I still don’t understand why the immeasurable effort of the involved persons and the big amount of money by the people spent for the SEC 2010 (where the UBD was introduced) had to be disregarded in favor of the K-12. Just like the latter, the SEC also aims to provide every Filipino the quality education that maximizes his talents and skills for life. But why it had to happen again, well… We had the BRIDGE PROGRAM, the RBEC, and few more. So, WHAT’S NEXT?

    • ilokano ak on said:

of course, how can you teach without your plan what to teach…

      • nilda u. dizon on said:

I can teach without re writing the lesson plan. Its a waste of time copying again and again the lesson plan that you have for the past few years. Objective alone can satisfy what your students need to know plus the activities and worksheets. You have to plan your lesson for tomorrow, ang ayaw ng teachers ung pagkahaba habang lesson plan na di nman kayang iexecute dahil kulang ang oras. teachers need a lot of reading and preparing instructional material for them to be able to present and execute the lesson well. Mastery of the subject matter ang kailangan ng teachers, so instead of re writing the lesson plan (wasting time) ubusin mo ang oras mo sa pagbabasa at marami kang mapupulot na bago na pwede mong iapply sa pagtuturo. gets mo!

        • Renan Aguilar on said:

Mastery of the subject ang kailangan.
For me, objectives also is enough to teach your
lesson. Not totally yung ang dami pang cheche buretse!

  11. we need some help on how to compute grades for our grade one pupils… especially in MAPEH. 2nd quater na, la pa kming final grade for them at wla ring report card

    • You would have to assume that DepEd has figured out an assessment method for whatever curricular activity it asks you to implement — so I recommend you exercise due diligence to get to the bottom of this before you throw up your hands. Then again, as a teacher worth your salt, you ought to be able to search the Internet for assistance in your predicament; there’s plenty of help out there for you to explore, instead of yelping for help. And I’m almost sure that if you think back about what you learned back in your college days re assessment methods appropriate for any particular school curricular activity — whoa, this is your opportunity to make a real splash by coming up with a bright idea of assessing your pupils; who knows your idea may even prove to be so good the DepEd may recognize you for it and your assessment method may even be named after you!

      • When you read the above post, please read all the way to the bottom where it says: “Please click here for a complete copy of the above DepEd Order and its Enclosures.” The grading system(s) are at the end of the enclosures.

It’s difficult to teach the new curriculum to grade 7, especially the English, both on the part of the teacher and learners. The assumption is, the learners have to finish the lower levels( grades 1-6 under k12) , sana nag start na lang muna sa grade 1 going up to the higher level, this is more effective. the k12 started in grade 1 how about the grade 6 and grade 7, eh di na ito spiral and progressive. There is a lapse from grade 2-5, and the grade 7 have not been in k12 from grade 1. Sorry to say, it’s impossible to finish the lessons for each unit for one grading period . And there are no guidelines yet on how to compute the MAKABAYAN as well as the MAPEH (which has 4 cores).

Since my children are not native Filipino speakers so I trained then in Tagalog at home in the event that when they reach school age at least they speak one national language to use at school. It was effective until the effectivity of the use of the native tongue as medium of instruction. My grades 1 and 3 are at stake for they have to learn our native tongue kankanaey to comprehend what is taught to them.

Worst, textbooks and lesson guides would arrive and I am afraid they would be in Iloko, the regional language. It would further stress them at school in language used rather than the content of the lesson.

Further, would it not put the non-native tagalog speakers to the disadvantantage as to academic terminologies used by the different subjects taken?

Our native kankanaey language are varried according to enthnolinguistic group and the teacher of my grade 1 child uses terms my child has to ask its meaning every evening. Very stressful.

Please device a better method of instruction.

As grade I teacher its hard to follow the new curriculum, but since teachers are flexible we can do it heartily for the good of our learners. one thing that I don’t like is that most of us were given coordinator ship even we are still adjusting of the said new curriculum. The memo was read to us by our principal that there’s no extra load will be given to gr.1 but until now coordinator ship is still there. Please higher deped officers remind all the administrators to follow what is written in the memorandum. “Maraming Salamat po.

am one of the grade one teacher who is willing to implement the new curriculum pero sa ngayon 8 week curriculum muna ang gamit namin due to lack of necessary materials for the full implementation of the new curriculum.wala pa po kasi ang mga manuals at activity sheets.mahirap gumawa ng LP pag walang references.pero so far, kahit 8 week ang gamit ko i already use the mother tongue which i find effective coz many pupils can respond correctly.mahirap nga lang ng konti kasi galing private sa kinder days ang mga bata kaya from english binigyan ko ng Cebuano meaning..lalo na yong numbers at colors..hehehe…but as they use to these changes makaka adjust rin ang mga bata…Panawagan lang namin sa nasa taas help us to adjust this changes also…ang time allotment in every learning area ok na yon…ok naman uuwi ng maaga ang mga bata basta si teacher nasa school lang hanggang 5pm or 4:30 diba para naman may time para sa pagremedial at saka pag gawa ng mga IM’s…thankful kami sa school head namin she understands what we went through this time…Mga KAGURO nandito na ang pagbabago adopt nalang tayo…GO.go,go,,,,,

    • felisa beriong on said:

GO GO GO MTB!!!

K-12 Curriculum is appreciated. I am a principal, and as i observed the classes for this past week and focused on Grade I, i appreciated the lessons taught by the teachers based on their lesson guides..Pupils were responsive and they can participate in the class discussions without inhibitions. There are certain words that our pupils are not familiar with anymore and so we need to go back to our mother tongue, anyway we are only at the 1st quarter of our SY and 2nd quarter, there will be a sort of leveling-up.. I think in Grade 1, their time is only up to 2:10 in the afternoon and at 2:30 they can be sent home to take their rest and be ready for the next days’ schooling considering of their age level (6 Y.O.) but teachers should stay up to 4:30 or even 5 to study, feedbacking, making IM’s and other things to ready again for the next days activity. Suggestion is that a complete set of session guides should be sent to the field, but anyway we have photocopied the session guides, and as teachers, we have to be resourceful and innovate…Think positive for this program will be successful……

We attended seminars for 5 days at Los Banos, Laguna for this K to 12 Curriculum, PURO HOW TO MAKE LESSON PLANS in different learning areas ang itinuro sa amin. Sad to say, up to now wala pa kaming teaching guides at mga activity sheet. Thanks to other division nakapagpaphotocopy kaming mga taga San Pedro, Laguna. At salamat and more power.

bakit po ganun? bakit kekelanganin pa ang other language especially sa mga beginner? bakit hinde ipriorities ang english and tagalog? i am a mother and ang lenguahe nmin mag-asawa sa bahay e TAGALOG. we are here in pangasinan. paano naman ang mga tao na bisayan at tagalog na magpamilya at lenguahe sa bahay ay tagalog but they stayed here in pangasinan?today,as the class started here in our placed, so much complains will hear side by side and even (some) teachers are complaining. meron pa ako narinig na ang SPED section will not use any two language( ilokano en pangasenense) they are only focus to use english and tagalog, that’s unfair! if everyone will teach as the SPED section way to be, parepareho ang knowlege o level nila( ng mga bata) kung mafofocusan ang mga bata same way of teaching process sa SPED section, all of them will get smarter. ang lenguahe na iniimplement o ninanais iimplement po ninyo ay matututunan din nila sa bahay o as they grown up. paano po nasabi na mother tounge kung ang karamihan sa amin e tagalog ang ginagamit sa bahay lalo sa pakikipag communicate sa mga bata. anywhere, ang TAGALOG O WIKANG FILIPINO ang lumalabas na national language. ang hirap mg adopt and mag caught up. even in the sides of teachers too. ako sa mga bata taglish po ang gamit. kung mgsusurvey tayo o kayo without treating anyone, you’ll see and get the result of…that they are not agree. and its really hard… and one more thing here at pangasinan-ang bago lenguahe talaga gagamitin madalas kesa tagalog??? :( so much why? kelangan po ba talaga ito?

kung mgsusurvey tayo o kayo without threating anyone, you’ll see and get the result of…that they are not agree having the LINGUA FRANCA or the (8) major languages as a major learning language. And bakit po ang english will start to teach on second semester of grade school? That is by october pa po… sana sa tagalog nalang po tayo en english focus kasi ang ILOKANO at PANGASENENSE ay matutunan ng mga bata while they are growing up thru socialization (communicating and meeting other person). I have one sample here that we filipinos are recognize all over the world. Latest news from SPLASH NEWS, LONDON entitled Good news: Philippines is world’s best country in Business English dated may 2012. PLEASE. kasi kami na magulang ay nahihirapan ganun din ang mga guro ngunit sabi nga nila they have to do the order.
